More on the Women Artists Thing ...

We discovered this article - a little after the event - but it's a subject that clearly isn't going to go away any time soon, so ... for your interest, men and women of the theatre, click here to read The glass curtain by Anne Marie Welsh, first published in The San Diego Union-Tribune in 2005.

I think it is a mentor thing. Women are not collaborative in the same climb the ladder way that men are. Witness Stephen Sondheim's collaboration with the Hammersteins from an early age. If we had Stephanie Sondheim she would have been sitting at home writing on her own waiting ala Dickinson to be discovered. Women have to learn to network and be heard in all stages of dramatic work.
